Inspired by countless walks on storied paths, the Patina Collection investigates the harmonious fusion of human expression, as it is altered by the forces of nature, and the passage of time.
Old walls with peeling paint, their messages and scars etched deep, are quieted but not silenced. Tired stone walkways cracked under stress, and rusted metal, their colors melting into organic shapes of unexpected combinations. This rustic luster forged over time, weather and stress creates a tapestry of texture that I find irresistible. In the studio, I move instinctively to build multiple layers of paint, then mindfully destroy parts of it, to suggest the aging process. Words and symbols conceal and reveal, as the painting takes on its own history.
